ready for 2013…

because whether we like it or not it is here!!!!… i have been taking a little time off for the holiday but i have been using that time to also get ready for the new year… i am getting everything in order and revamping the way it goes around here to serve you better and meet everyone’s expectations as their photographer… i have been blessed to have some of you along on this ride for a long time and some of you are new to my crazy little business… but no matter if you are an ol’ faithful or newbie i want to make sure you receive the best service you can from dreamlife… that being said, i have decided to change my session investments to now include the digital files for you… there are many reasons why i have decided to make this change but the most important one is as a mom myself i have always wanted EVERY picture that my children are in… i may not print every one of them but i want them… i will eventually make photo books with them or maybe create something one day with them but i want them to archive… so, i want to do the same for you…

i never imagined that my business would take off the way it did almost 6 years ago… i dreamed that it would but wasn’t sure if i had what it took to run a successful photography business… sometimes, i still question that… but i keep trying… i keep attending workshops, trade shows, and classes to learn how to be the best for not only my clients but for myself… i am having a great time and have met some extraordinary people through this journey… BUT, i have felt a little restrained lately, stressed, and overwhelmed… just don’t have enough time to do it all; consult with clients, create awesome shoots, edit, order, design, and deliver… it never fails when i think i am catching up a past client will call wanting me to create a storyboard or try to find their session from a year or longer ago and place an order… i just can’t do it all anymore… and while i am stuck in front of a computer designing and ordering i could be out doing what i LOVE, creating memories with my camera… so that being said, i am going to try to cut some of that out and maybe it will open up my schedule a little bit to where i have the time to shoot more of you…

another big announcement is that mini sessions will now be available during the week and no longer just once or twice a season or on certain themed mini session days… some of you have been loyal, faithful clients for 4-5 years and your children/family have become use to “mrs. kim” shooting them with her big black camera… for some of you it just doesn’t take a full session to get what you are needing/wanting… and that is why i decided to offer these sessions at other times… i will be limiting the number of mini sessions i can book during a month’s time so if you are interested in one for a specific time of year, go ahead and shoot me an email and let me know… one side note, mini sessions can’t be used for newborn sessions or bridal sessions…

i am NOT in any way trying to short change any of you… if you will trust me through this little restructure of my business i promise you will be happy with how it all plays out… i will still be there to assist you as much as i can in your ordering process… i will give you online lab recommendations where you can order your photographs from… labs that i have personally seen their products and know they will produce for you what you are use to receiving from me… these labs have some great prints as well as products… a lot of the products i have never offered to clients because i don’t have the time to create them… dry erase boards, personalized calendars, mouse pads, etc… but now, thanks to these labs, they are already created for you and with your professionally shot and edited photos you will receive on your jump drive; you can create these products for yourself at a fraction of the price that i can make them for you…

i know that some of you will still prefer to place your larger wall portrait orders through me and that will be fine… if you choose the full session, instead of receiving the digital files you can choose to have $300 of your session fee be used as a print credit towards your order… but, if you do choose to take the digital files but still want to order a large gallery wrap or other products from me i will have discounted pricing for that… the mini sessions will be digital files only but like the full session you can purchase enlargements with discounted pricing…

i have updated all the studio information and investment information on the blog… you will find the new information in the menu bar under studio information… please read over it carefully and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to shoot me an email…

i truly feel that this is going to be the right direction to go… i will be able to get your galleries online quicker for you because i will not be doing any ‘enhanced’ editing, such as retouching or color enhancements, until after you pick your favorites… then i will enhance those favorites for you… that way i am not wasting time enhancing/retouching prints that you end up not ordering/choosing… all of your portraits will be edited like you are use to but only your favorites will be retouched and enhanced… i will also include a black and white version of your enhanced favorite as well as a low res version of your favorites for you to load on facebook, etc… then once i enhance your favorites, i will either mail or deliver your jump drive or disc to you within a week or two… voila, if things go as planned within 4-6 weeks of your shoot your digital files are to you and ready for you to print and play with…

sorry to be so lengthy with this post but just wanted to make sure i explained myself to you… thanks for a great 2012 and i am so excited about 2013… and i promise, if this new way of doing things ends up not working for us i will say “sorry” and revamp again… one thing you can count on is that i will always strive to meet your expectations and deliver great quality photos/memories!!!!

dream big…kim
